PS

I was just about to send today’s message about mindfulness, but I realized that I had some time sensitive music news to share. I started to add a postscript, but decided instead to just let that be the message. Look for mindfulness tomorrow.

For today, please watch this video:  "Better Man"  That’s Keb’ Mo’ sitting on his back porch in 2007, singing a song that resonates for me today. I’ve been a Keb’ Mo’ fan for a long time. HIs music lifts me up and makes me move. But it’s his humanity that’s on display here. He’s singing with Playing for Change, “a movement dedicated to inspire and connect the world through music.” Don’t we all need music, connection, and inspiration now?

You can learn more about Playing for Change here: Global Music  I encourage you to scroll down through the long gallery of musicians who have joined this compassionate group: Musicians You’ll see some folks you know. And whether you recognize them or not, the photos of all these kind souls may lift your spirits. It worked for me.

Thank you to my friend Meg, who told me about Playing for Change. I now receive their updates myself, and you can sign up for them here: Newsletter Then watch your e-mail for news of free streaming performances. All of them will be powerful. And you can bet that I’ll be ready and waiting when Keb’ Mo’ takes the stage this Saturday, April 4, at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time!

I also want to let you know about a quarantine concert today: David Wilcox, one of my longtime favorite singer-songwriters, is streaming live at 6:00 p.m. Eastern today. You can learn more about him and sample his work here: David Wilcox   Scroll down to “Into the Mystery,” a 2003 album that is only more relevant in this hard time. Albums  Just click the titles to hear part of each song. I’ll also forward the information about this afternoon's concert. It will stream on Facebook but we have not needed Facebook to watch other streaming performances and events.

It’s easy to feel that we’re not doing enough these days, especially if we’re not on the front lines. I don’t have the answers; I feel that, too. I just try to do what I can each day to be kind and loving, to express my gratitude to others, and to remember that even the small things I do matter. It all matters. For today, I am grateful for the gift of music, and for my ability to share the information about these concerts with you. Playing for Change and David Wilcox are helping to show us the power of music, especially in times of distress. Let’s lift them up as they lift us up. We are all in this together.

Until tomorrow, be safe and be well.

Love,
Nancie/Mom/Mimi/Grandma
