Weekend Edition: What Paul Simon Posted, and More
No, I haven't joined Facebook. And if I had, I doubt that Paul Simon and I would have become Facebook friends. But I'm glad that he posted this to a public page, and grateful that I found it: Bridge Over Troubled Waters
And for those of you who haven't seen this yet, here's a link to the new bedtime story for our times: The Great Realisation
May it be so. And may we who are parents -- or much older than our 20's -- take heart that a 26-year-old poet and his seven-year-old siblings can bring us such wisdom, hope, and inspiration. There's cause for optimism right there.
Finally, here are a couple of events sponsored by the Portland Art Museum + Northwest Film Center taking place today that might catch your interest. The first is the last, so to speak; it's the final virtual screening of "Spaceship Earth," which follows eight people who spent two years living inside a replica of Earth's ecosystem called Biosphere 2. You can learn more, see the trailer, and purchase tickets (specially priced at $3.99) here: Spaceship Earth
And as we approach the 40th anniversary of the May 18, 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens, the Portland Art Museum and Mt. St. Helens Institute are co-sponsoring a free livestream at 3:30 today with special guests reflecting upon the art, science, and culture of the mountain's ever-changing landscapes. The program uses the new exhibit "Volcano! Mt. St. Helens in Art" as its entry point. Learn more about today's free program here: Mt. St. Helens
Until tomorrow, take good care, and be steadfast. We have done hard things in the past. We can do this together.
Love,
Nancie/Mom/Mimi/Grandma
